Great question! We think the burgers might not be as firm, but if that’s the case, you can add more bread crumbs, as needed. Hope that helps! Let us know if you try it!

Thank you for sharing your experience, Emily! We’re so glad you and your little one enjoy the flavor. We would suggest experimenting with the amount of bread crumbs. Different brands vary in their absorbency and too few or two many bread crumbs can cause the burgers to be crumbly. Other suggestions would be to mash the chickpeas well, use a cast iron or non-stick skillet, and wait until the oil is hot before adding the burgers to the skillet. We hope that helps!

I have made these several times. The flavor is great — even my picky 4-year-old will eat them without complaint, which is high praise, indeed. The trouble is, they fall apart, as others have mentioned. I doubled the recipe this time, made 16 sliders, and I only had 6 hold together reasonably well. I may try with a flax egg next time. In the meantime, I think I’ll take crumbs and wrap them up in pita with hummus or sprinkle over salad.
